It’s official. I take back every critical thing I ever said about Joe Blanton. And I will even retire the nickname, Joe Blah-nton. The man was a pitching machine tonight and on top of that, he hit his first major league home run! Imagine hitting your first career homer in Game 4 of the World Series…wow. After that, while he pitched, the crowd chanted, “Let’s Go Joe!” over and over. Blanton gave up only 2 earned runs in 2 innings and struck out 7 batters.
Ryan Howard also had a monster night. Only Lenny Dykstra had previously hit 2 home runs in a World Series game for the Phillies before Ryan did it tonight. He hit a 3 runs shot and later, a 2 run homer to rack up 5 RBI on the night. Jimmy Rollins went 3 for 5, Jayson Werth had 2 hits, as well as Pedro Feliz who saved the Phillies from leaving more men stranded on base by getting a 2 out hit in the 3rd inning.
And now tomorrow (technically, today) Cole Hamels will pitch for the World Series win and a post-season record: No pitcher has ever won 5 starts in any post-season in history. As for me, it is 2am and I have to get up, well…in a few hours! L But it’s all good…I will post pictures from the game later today when I am semi-conscious. Until then…Go Phillies!
And for the football fans, I have also started a Miami Dolphins page, The Dolphin Pod! All Dol-Fans, and anyone else who wants to say hello is welcome!
